Clean lines, classy feels, this is a fabulous expression of Viognier. It's gone up two bucks since the previous vintage but you'd pay it. You'd happily pay more given the quality on offer. Another impressive release from Tim Smith.
Some Viogniers are weighty and oily, but not here. Barrel fermented and aged in lees for six months, the freshness and sleek lines are clear. Handled with kid gloves, cut apricots, ginger, flecks of cinnamon and biscuity goodness - come at me. A flash of creaminess comes and goes through the mid-palate with a tinge of nuttiness too. A glistening lunch time wine that beams freshness with that delicate ginger spice reaching long. Well played Mr Smith.
Drink to three years.
