The 2017 release was a little off the pace but this 2018 is back where it belongs. An excellent blend that brings together two heroes of the Barossa that sit in the shadows of their better-known siblings.
Co-fermented, this 85/15 blend sees French oak (20% new) for 24 months.
The Grenache brings the pretty factor and the Mataro delivers savoury and earthy goodness. Richly fragrant, there is an ethereal spirit within. Red currants and raspberries fold into blue fruits framed by black pepper and seductive dark chocolate. A surge of pan juices and meatiness through the mid-palate caps off a terrific wine. A large pour please!
Drink to eight years.
