A savoury driven Pinot that reaches out and draws you in, it's a different interpretation from the Upper Yarra Valley compared to another label I recently looked at. These Burton McMahon wines impress and this George's Vineyard is clever.
Dark plums, dark cherries and cranberries walk alongside dried leaves, sauteed mushrooms, kicks of earth and an assortment of dried herbs and fine spices. What could be described as autumnal, the use of whole bunches (30% in the final blend) does the talking. Long and fine textural feels highlight the mouthfeel. Persistent, it stays the course with seemingly no intention to move on. Big love here.
Drinking well now but it will age gracefully too.
