More refined and precise than the Grand Pappy's Shiraz, this 1847 First Pick Shiraz is an excellent wine, hands down.
Silkier and more decadent than its sibling, veneers of pleasure peel off with ease in the form of dark berries, plums, rhubarb, soft spices, licorice and cured meats. The oak is not as prominent as the Grand Pappy's but the cedar and cloves are more laid back. Dark chocolate and chocolate brownies muse as tension builds through the mid-palate. Charred steak also builds its case with slightly firm, robust tannins shining a light on a long future ahead. Let it breathe and everything settles and speaks freely. You could get very comfortable here... Bravo.
