There is more Chenin Blanc in Australia than many would suspect. Although there are large pockets in Western Australia, the vast array of producers accessed on VinoDiversity is worth checking out. Here's a delicious dry wine - a golden sunrise in the glass.
The textural feels here are absorbing and the result of wild fermentation and 12 months in barrel. A moreish and savoury wine, Mediterranean tonic water, honeyed tones, apples plus touches of lemon all add interest. Chatting with winemaker Brad Hickey, he suggests some water chestnuts lurk within too. A faint brush of tannin with chalky feels close out a wine sure to raise eyebrows and ensure you surge forward for more. Tick!
