Tight, compact with coiled tension. A bit like the Epstein files, this Oakridge 864 Hazeldene Vineyard Block 1 Pinot Noir is keeping its secrets close. Give it some time tucked away in a dark place and it will open up a treat.
Cherries, cherry pips, strawberries, pine needles, mushroom broth and kicks of black earth are all woven into the frame. Fine dried herbs and dried leaves continue to build a delicate savoury profile but it's holding itself back. Its class is masked for now, but a few days of tasting demonstrated its potential and that enabled it to soar. A long decant is on the cards to drink now, but hold and patience will reward in spades.
