First Ridge Montepulciano 2023

 

Montepulciano from Mudgee coming in hot! What a beauty this is. It's a wine with terrific shape and carry and the fruit is seemingly painted on thick.

Rich waves of plum, dark cherry and blackberry lead the charge, with mocha and gentle spices weaving seamlessly through the palate. Plush tannins bring structure and drive, carrying an elongated finish that refuses to let go. Over several days it revealed its full character, and I’m glad I strapped in for the journey. A striking wine that is very well done.
