Storm King Wine Co Tempranillo 2024

These Storm King Wine Co releases showcase considered winemaking and this Tempranillo is no exception. Providing a fresh lens on the Granite Belt district, this is a wine of depth and allure.

Made with 40% whole bunches, it goes through carbonic maceration and that is telling. Not fined nor filtered.

I was fixated on opening but it found another gear on days two and three of tasting. Give this a decant and you'll see what I mean. Blackberries, blueberries, red plums and red currants set the seen. There is a minerally ripple courtesy of the granite soils from which it was born. Black tea slides in as do threads of meatiness and a shimmer of barbecue rub spices. But the textural drive is the hero. It's a wine that curls around your soul and subtly offers that gentle squeezing embrace. With a persistent length that just does not seem to disappear, this is beautiful drinking. Go here.
