Storm King Wine Co Vermentino 2025

This is a textural Vermentino masterpiece from a place you'd least expect. I'll even go on record - no one in Australia makes Vermentino better.

Some twenty years ago, Ray Costanzo found a love for Vermentino while travelling through the Cinque Terra. Captivated by its presence, shape and drive, he made sure that he would plant this Mediterranean variety in his Granite Belt vineyards. Fast forward to the present and his exploration hasn't stopped. Continually tinkering and honing his skills to bring out its best, this Storm King Wine Co wine is a passion project shared with his wife Jen. Together, they have created something quite exquisite to tempt the taste buds and soothe the soul.

Texture, texture, texture is the mantra here. Wild fermented on skins, elderflower and lemon myrtle rise up with lemon juice and zest. Fresh ginger and ginger nut biscuits add further detail with a whisper of saltiness. Time on skins has developed a golden apple like trait woven through ribbons of creaminess. The fruit and acid stride in perfect step, the balanced immaculate. Intriguing, considered and supremely delicious, it's that kind of wine that insists that your next pour be just that little bit bigger. Brilliant!
