As I went through the Hoosegg range it was clear that the best of everything is thrown at these wines.
When I was told that the wine had 100% new oak I could have been knocked over by a feather. Precise forest selection with the timber seasoned for 5 to 6 years before being made into barrels, the oak is by no means aggressive nor obtrusive.
Minerally, there is an incredibly seductive appeal. Already with five years of age under its belt, this will continue to reward beyond a decade. The weight and vibrancy is fascinating with a detailed complexity and drive. The fruit presence is highlighted by white fleshed stonefruits, shimmers of lemon juice and an alluring ribbon of creaminess that threads its way through with ease. The harmonious fusion of all elements makes this quite a complete wine. Stand and applaud.
