Like the Seven Heaven Chardonnay, the high percentage of new French oak in this Merlot (90%) is integrated with the fruit superbly. Many wines showing such a high percentage would ordinarily clout you over the head with the wood - but not here. Barely noticeable, soft plummy fruit, dark cherries and super fine spices combine superbly with the oak that plays a mere supporting role. The drive and presence build with time in the glass. Above all, it's quite an enthralling Merlot that hums a sweet melody. Bravo!
