I was fixated by this Nebbiolo from Soumah, I'm not going to lie. A massive step up from previous vintages and I was on the edge up upping the score to 95... Damn, it's a great drink.
There is a serious Langhe Nebbiolo feel here and the tasting turned into a drinking. After a bracket of wines, this is the one I came back to - absolutely delightful!
It opens with multiple layers to consider. Soy and cola ride on the back of pretty purple flowers and violets. Raspberry and cherry fruit are pinned to the core with cured meats, tar and earthy vibes adding detail as it seizes up late. The longer it sits, the more it reveals a shade of balsamic. It's a wine that builds a compelling case demonstrating varietal traits, yet does so on slow release. That tension is a driving force before the customary powdery tannins are deployed - yes!
Persistent with a captivating length, give this a decant for now or hold. Either way, you're in very good hands.
