From an 8 hectare site of reddish sand, this is a Barolo of depth and density. By far the biggest and most muscular in the range, like the Classico, tuck it away for a few years to see it at its best.
Violets, dried roses, char, cured meat and compote consume the aroma profile. Each time I go back there is more to peel back. Dense plums, puffs of earth and some dried herbs add to the savoury frame with a touch of orange peel and leather. Drying and puckering, those superfine tannins take to the stage and refuse to move urging for another sip. The power and drive are salivating. Best enjoyed with a steak on the coals and nothing would be better than a local Bistecca all Fiorentina (T-bone).
