From the highly regarded Santa Stefano vineyard, this Barbaresco from Castello di Neive is a coiled spring that needs a sleep. Give it that time and you'll be rewarded deluxe.
Dense, brooding and loaded with potential, scents of hazelnuts and balsamic rise up along with crushed dried rose petals and red cherries. Best described as a powder bomb, the dry yet structured palate is coated with superfine tannins that give the impression that they are sprayed on. The aroma profile flows with ease into the mouth with some dried herb nuances adding further detail. It's a wine I would have preferred to sit on much longer but time wasn't my friend whilst tasting this at the cellar door during an extensive tasting of the range that followed an incredible tour of the Castello.
Still tight and primary, let this rest and patience will be sure to reward.
