Despite its exceptional quality, 11,000 bottles are produced from the family-owned Castaglione vineyard underscoring the meticulous care behind each wine. A tour of the winery and cellar made it abundantly clear that every detail is thoughtfully considered, with no aspect overlooked.
The vineyard is composed of sandstone and limestone. Hitting the right notes from the get-go, violets, cherry, tar, earthy notes and dark chocolate lay a solid platform. Orange peel, balsamic, flings of earthiness and some leather add to the wine's complexity with a shimmer of minerally detail. The length is exceptional but the balance and shape hold this in the limelight for all to see and admire. Brilliant stuff and a perfect way to end an exceptional experience.
