A charming and finely tuned Dolcetto, this Marchesi di Grésy's Monte Aribaldo d'Alba 2023 presents itself as a very tidy apertivo option.
After spending 6–7 days on the skins and aging in cement tanks, this Dolcetto emerges with an energy that highlights the variety’s finesse.
It opens with a lifted bouquet of pretty purple florals intertwined with a subtle spearmint note that adds a cooling freshness. The palate is mineral-driven and linear, with good drive and a savoury undertone of smoky earth. There's a pleasing tension that adds a little oomph to the silky fruit. Above all, it's a simply wine that's not showy or pretentious, and perhaps that is what drew me closer each sip.
Drink to five years.
