Tasted on my recent trip to Orange, the Chardonnay in the region really stood tall. This release from Patina is a respectable wine.
Two words capture this - flavour and oak. Winemaker Gerald Naef likes things in excess and that generosity rushes at you. Loaded with barbecued peach and grilled figs, there is a strong presence from the oak. Some may be drawn to this style, others not so. It brings a creamy drive no less with a lemony acidity whipping up the tail. Tick.
Drink to five years.
