Shottesbrooke Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2015

This is a new release in the Shottesbrooke range with the fruit sourced from ten year old Adelaide Hills vines.

I looked at this with five other Chardonnays (different regions and vintages) and it was my least preferred. It was quite thin through the middle to be honest. Green apples (tinned and fresh), some yellow peach and vanilla oak shouldered the load. A pronounced bitter and tart acidity initially wrestles away the attention from the fruit before it cooled it heels. Some spice rounded it off for a respectable finish. In the end, it just lacked the cohesion I was hoping for. Others in the tasting line up demonstrated significant better value for money.

87/100 - Good
