d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2011

Pretty aromas. Berry basket and plums with a violet and purple flower type perfume playing second fiddle. A whiff of oak is on the prowl but some blue fruits swoop in late.

Cured meat, earth, undergrowth and those dark berry fruits step up on a long and engaging palate. Deep and daring. I wouldn't expect anything else from this guy.

Juicy tannins sit pretty and long. Bold and a bit drying. The power of the fruit has a magnetism to it. There's a good lick of spice on the finish too.

I wouldn't leave it much more than a decade.

Roast beef me.

Very good.
