Golden Grove Estate Mourvèdre 2014

There are samples which come through the front door which need to be tasted whilst there are others which just need to be drunk. This falls in the category of the latter I'm pleased to say. Damn tasty stuff!

Winemaker Ray Costanzo tells me minimal handling was the key here. Fourteen days on skins then 20% in new French oak with the remainder in 2-5 year old.

Packed with savoury influences, vanilla and cedar aromas are bursting at the seams. Briary and savoury characters wrap themselves around a core of vibrant fruit. Nicely weighted there is plenty of depth to coax another sip. Delivery is super soft and the length is exceptional. Those dried herbs are just persistent and hang large through to a moreish finish. Super buying for the money but punters have realised this all too quickly - the 'sold out' sign has been posted.

Super buying for the money. I wish I could buy some.

Drink now or up to eight years.

95/100 - Excellent.
