I can see myself with a glass of this in hand standing by an open fire on a chilly afternoon. A dense red sure to warm your insides during the cooler months.
A surge of power with smooth edges best describes this. It smells of black plums, liquorice, dried red flowers and some char. Dark chocolate adds another layer of interest as a fine dusting of spice skirts the edge of the mouth with good acidity which will help it age gracefully. Much more refined than the previous release and with good use of oak, that soft finish brings some moreish appeal. Long and persistent, perhaps this may well be Marcus Hofer's best Lagrein release.
