Turkey Flat Butchers Block 2013

Gutsy and balanced are the words which come to mind here.

A Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre blend (48/28/24), there's plenty of power and drive coming from the engine room.

A whiff of cracked black pepper nearly made me sneeze but with some air it settles into a neat groove.

Raspberry brownie, plums, dark berry fruits and earth. There's a neat savoury aspect to the wine too and a smattering of black pepper just hums in the background. Full in the mouth, you have plenty to chew on with grippy tannins to finish. Just right for a steak.

I've never seen it on a shelf for more than $20. Terrific value.

Drink now to eight years.

Very good.
