Yangarra Estate Ovitelli Grenache 2021

It's more than appropriate that I celebrate my 6000th review with Grenache! That's some journey and I'm most grateful to the wineries, winemakers, marketers and my readers for your support.

As with previous releases, this is my favourite Grenache in the Yangarra Estate range. The class, the purity, the lacy feels - it's a damn fine drink. Grenache lovers, this is heavenly.

Arila Gardens Gardens of Moppa GSM 2022

The 2021 release was an absolute belter and winemaker Adam Clay has levelled up with this 2022 GSM. A fabulous drink, the savoury appeal really stood out on this occasion.

Lienert Estate Grenache 2022

Yet to be released, gee I love getting a sneak peek before a wine hits the shelves. This is the second release of this Grenache that hails from the western Barossa. Bright and crunchy, it is such a delicious wine.

Max and Me Springton Vineyard Grenache 2022

I sat down with Phil Lehmann recently to go through some of his Max and Me wines. The quality across the board is most impressive. This Eden Valley Grenache makes its debut in the range and what an entrance it has made. Tight on opening, it expressed itself with more time in the glass.

Sorby Adams Jutland GSM 2021

From an excellent Barossa vintage comes this delicious blend. GSMs are made for burgers and barbecues, well I think so anyway. The detail and slurp factor presented here demand large pours.

Tim Smith Grenache 2022

This is a bomb of pleasure that thrusts itself in your direction. Take a seat, get comfortable and pour large. Another excellent Tim Smith Grenache awaits.

Yelland and Papps Vin De Soif 2022

If you only drink 95+ point wines, jog on. But if juicy and silky is in your wheelhouse, the slurp factor of this Grenache/Cinsault/Mataro blend brings the dance shoes and beats to the yard. Yeow!

Artisans of Barossa Grenache Project 2021

Six wines, six different expressions of the same vineyard with the fruit picked at the same time. How's that for an exciting comparison of style and winemaker influence?

If you love Grenache, you'll be thrilled to explore what these six winemakers bring to the table. If you love wine, this is one incredibly unique project that delves into the prospect of the same fruit being handled differently to demonstrate what thoughtful and considered winemaking can deliver. In short, each winemaker was given one tonne of Grenache from the Rozenweig Vineyard to produce their own interpretation.

To do this project justice, you need to taste all six wines side by side rather than individually - follow through and you'll reap the reward. What a great excuse to get some friends around a table to absorb, dissect and discuss the differences each wine delivers. Bravo to Artisans of Barossa for creating a platform (one which has been ongoing for a number of years now) for such adventure and creativity all for the love of wine.

Turkey Flat Grenache Rosé 2022

Easily one of the best and most consistent Rosés in Australia. Strong form here once more. A fabulous drink, no questions asked. This was an easy buy during the festive season.

Paisley Velvet Grenache 2021

Raspberries meet pretty scents of violets and blueberries. Another beauty from Paisley Wines that is such an easy drop to kick back with.

Tim Smith MGS 2022

You had me at burgers and pizza night. Wrap your lips around this cracker. A blend of Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz, it's three of Tim Smith's loves in one bottle.

Tim Smith Bugalugs Grenache 2022

Juicy, earthy and right in the slot for some Barossa Grenache deliciousness. It nails the price point too for those seeking an easy, approachable wine.

Common Molly McLaren Vale Grenache 2022

Light and vibey, this is an easy-drinking Grenache with its dancing shoes on.

Common Molly Barossa Valley Grenache 2022

It's great to see two Grenache wines by the same maker side by side with the only difference being the fruit origin. This Barossa Grenache is darker in the glass than its McLaren Vale sibling.

Paisley Wines Turntable GSM 2020

GSM is always a good barbecue wine option. This release from Paisley Wines has a meaty profile that asks for it.

Huntington Estate Special Reserve Grenache 2022

Tim Stevens has jumped on the Grenache bandwagon and found a comfy chair. A long time fan of the variety, he has planted a heap more vines in recent years. This is a juicy number and a damn fine take on the variety.

Brash Higgins Smart Vineyard Grenache 2021

Brad Hickey has moved into the Grenache game. Usually producing a Grenache Mataro blend, he's stepped things up and sourced some fruit from the 70 year old vines in the Smart Vineyard. What an excellent and delicately handled debut this is!

Oliver's Taranga Grenache 2022

Dive in, swim, paddle, whatever. Stay a while, that's the message. Grenache glory from Oliver's Taranga.

Anarchy Wines The Catalyst Grenache 2021

These Anarchy Wines are smart. The Rosé really hit the mark and this Grenache isn't far behind. Quality wines from a small producer worth keeping an eye out for.
