Corryton Burge Grenache 2024

A burger, a snag and a bottle of Grenache. Sometimes that’s all you need.

Ripe blueberries and red currants provide the fruity lift, with a savoury thread of meat rub and exotic spices adding character. There’s a suggestion of the Southern Barossa in the spice and silty tannins, giving the wine a rustic, earthy feel. The palate is easy enough, although it stops a little short and doesn’t quite flow through with the persistence I’d hoped for. It is definitely a wine that calls for food to sit alongside it, and that’s where it finds its happy place. A good burger night wine, or take it to the park, throw a snag on some bread and pour generously. Uncomplicated and made for casual food.
