Big love. This Curly Flat Chardonnay deserves to be treated with kid gloves. Don't serve it too cold because you'll mask much of what makes it so compelling.
I looked at it over several days and it really hit its stride on day three, revealing greater harmony, depth and detail with every revisit.
Brioche, wafers and caramel drops lead into a beautiful core of white-fleshed stonefruit, drops of lemon juice with vanilla slice and custard powder adding a creamy richness. There's a sleek presence of oak throughout, neatly integrated with soft cinnamon spice and gentle ripples of ginger that add another layer without stealing the spotlight.
The palate is where this really shines. It glides through the mouth with sheer grace and ease, carrying impressive length and a wonderfully composed texture. A flicker of yellow grapefruit tang arrives on close - yes! Excellent as ever, but give this the chance it deserves. Decant now and enjoy its beauty, or tuck it away for a couple of years and let all elements mesh even further.
