Richer in style, but there’s plenty of zip keeping this Huntington Estate Barrel Fermented Chardonnay on its toes.
Handpicked and whole-bunch pressed, fruit from Blocks 11, 16 and 17 was picked with 15% of the free-run juice allowed to wild ferment before spending time on lees in seasoned French hogsheads.
Barbecued peach, tinned pineapple, Jersey caramel, toffee apple and brulee bring plenty of generosity, while lemon juice and old-school lemonade provide a welcome citrus lift. Biscuity notes and roasted cashews add savoury richness, joined by vanilla slice and Danish pastry. Then comes the zippy lemon sherbet tang, cutting through the richness and giving the palate plenty of energy. A fine shimmer of ginger spice adds another layer - yes! A great drink, put this alongside a Sunday roast chicken and you’re onto a winner.
