Glossy in the glass, savoury at heart, this Dalrymple Pipers River is an excellent Pinot Noir.
From Dalrymple’s Pipers River vineyard, the fruit was handpicked with 10% whole bunches used during fermentation before spending 10 months in French oak barriques, 30% of them new.
Juicy red cherries, sour cherries and strawberries make the opening play. Then the savoury nuances swoop, adding another dimension of interest. Dried red petals provide floral prettiness, while tilled earth, cherry cola and twigs fold into one another with ease. Sautéed mushrooms, tea tree and apricot kernel add further savoury intrigue, creating a palate that keeps asking you to come back for another look. There’s sophistication here, but it never feels overly worked. The components sit comfortably together, flowing with poise and purpose. A beautiful Pinot Noir with plenty of personality that provides excellent drinking.
