Pinot Noir from a challenging vintage, this Byrne Farm Glenidle Pinot Noir 2025 wears the season remarkably well. It doesn't quite possess the purity, poise and confidence of the outstanding 2024 release, but there's plenty to admire.
Dark cherries, baked strawberries and raspberries deliver a generous fruit profile, while tilled earth, mushroom compost and dried leaves provide the savoury complexity that Pinot lovers chase. There's an appealing composure and restraint throughout, yet it still walks with an uber cool swagger that keeps drawing you back for another sip. Rather than forcing itself, it quietly builds interest with every glass. A thoughtful, honest expression of a tougher vintage that absorbs the season's challenges. I really like where this is heading, and I suspect it will continue to reward those prepared to give it a little time.
