A compelling, detailed and wonderfully composed expression, this is a seriously impressive Roussanne from Yelland & Papps that continues to reveal more of itself with every sip.
Don't do this Roussanne a disservice by serving it straight from the fridge. Serving it too cold will only mask its beauty, so give it the patience it deserves.
I looked at this over several days and it gathered remarkable momentum, revealing layers of complexity with each revisit. Yellow flowers, yellow peach and honeysuckle set an inviting tone before beeswax, almonds and apricot kernel. Eight months in older oak has been handled beautifully, contributing creamy vanilla, vanilla slice and a subtle textural richness without overshadowing the fruit. There's even a savoury whisper of chicken stock that adds another dimension, while gentle ripples of ginger spice keep everything humming along. The palate is broad and silky, gliding like a sheet of satin with impressive width and persistence. Another brilliant Roussanne from this producer - a variety they handle exceptionally well.
