Barossa Boy Young Wisdom Mataro 2020

Meaty is the word - and I love it! This is your Friday evening special after a long week. A cuddle in a glass, the savoury delish is moreish and then some. Forever the wingman, this Mataro walks proudly on its own two feet. Detailed, this is a well-made expression.

Barossa Boy Risk It For The Biscuit Semillon 2022

Risk It For The Biscuit - one of those fascinating names for a wine. There is a great mouthfeel and presence with this Semillon. I've encountered some Barossa Semillon that has just been a hot mess - overripe and gloopy. This is a fabulous wine that is neatly balanced and shows bright fruit.

Yalumba The Caley Cabernet Shiraz 2018

Strap yourself in for a sublime red wine! Here we have the sixth release of Yalumba's The Caley and it is an absolutely refined and elegant Cabernet Shiraz. Just wow! Above all, it's a brilliant example of first-class fruit and astute winemaking. Drop everything and embrace the elegance and purity.

Max and Me Shiraz 2021

Dangerously smooth, Phil Lehmann has a habit of delivering lacy and super attractive wines under his Max & Me label. Sip slow and embrace the beauty of this Eden Valley Shiraz.

Yelland and Papps Brumeux Rousanne 2022

More funk than Funky Cold Medina and more layers than those Instagram rainbow layer cakes, this is an absolute joy to drink. Cool, considered, and edgy, it's a wine that hits the high hats time and again.

A more elegant take on the Barossa staple, this Syrah has a calming presence with the expected curiosity that Yelland & Papps wines deliver time and again.

If aged Riesling spins your wheels, get amongst this late release from Spinifex. Wonderfully concentrated, it still has many years of pleasure ahead.

Chaffey Bros Tripelpunkt Riesling 2017

A museum release from Chaffey Bros, I was fortunate enough to give this a road test at Artisans of Barossa recently. With over 40 wines on tasting, there are plenty of gems to uncover. If aged Riesling is your thing, this is a beauty.

Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Shiraz 2019

After 24 years at Yalumba, it is great to see Kevin Glastonbury as a co-signatory on this Yalumba The Signature 2019. Perhaps the best producer of the famed Cabernet/Shiraz blend in the country, the impeccable consistency he has achieved with labels such as The Caley and The Signature deserves nothing but praise. This 2019 is another superb release.

Tomfoolery Eden Valley Equinox Shiraz 2021

The prettiness and vibrance of Eden Valley Shiraz glisten. There is a juicy factor here too. Glorious and then some, you may be determined to not share a drop, and fair enough too. What a beauty this is from Tomfoolery Wines.

Lienert Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

A brand new release for Lienert Estate comes with another eye-catching label. This time green locusts make their mark as they did when the journey of Cabernet commenced at Lienert. Give this a long decant or tuck it away for a while to see it at its best.
