1847 Grand Pappy's Shiraz 2022

Big, rich and generous, this Grand Pappy's Shiraz from 1847 Wines fills the mouth and demands a slab of protein as its preferred partner.

Bigger, more concentrated and richer than its First Picked sibling, this comes from mature, low-yielding vineyards on the lower slopes of the eastern Barossa Ranges. Twenty-four months in predominantly new and second-fill American oak, complemented by 20% new French oak, leaves little doubt about its influence.

Cedar and Coconut Rough sit prominently alongside blackberries and dense plums that provide plenty of grunt with a lick of fruit sweetness. Fruit bun and exotic spices add further complexity, with those spices clinging tenaciously to a long, persistent finish. This is a mouth-filling Shiraz with plenty of power, concentration and oak-derived richness. It’s not shy, nor is it pretending to be that will age comfortably for beyond a decade.
