Saddler's Creek Single Suitcase Barbera 2025

Italian roots, Australian landscape and plenty of Barbera bounce. This release from Saddler's Creek is a little beauty. I get a sense it is very new because it doesn't appear on the website.

The Single Suitcase range pays tribute to the immigrants who arrived in Australia during the 1950s with a suitcase in one hand and a fistful of hope in the other. This Barbera carries that spirit nicely, with an unmistakable Australian twist. There’s a whiff of eucalypt before plums and dark berry fruits build a generous fruit profile. Dried herbs, shards of chocolate, tomato paste and passata bring savoury depth and plenty of personality. True to Barbera form, bright acidity gives the wine plenty of energy, though it softens beautifully with time in the glass. Ripples of soft spice curl around the palate towards the finish, delivering a gentle caress of warmth. A tick from me.
