Sips in the sunshine, pinkie raised. This is summer drinking with a little class. A collaboration between friends Marcelle and Bel, this Hilltops Pinot Grigio is so approachable and ridiculously easy to slurp.
Intoxicating florals explode from the glass, immediately followed by white flowers, cut pears, canned pears and crunchy green apple, with a little lick of lemon juice adding freshness.
The fruit comes from mature, single-vineyard Freeman family vines around 600 metres above sea level, planted in the decomposed granite and red loam soils of Hilltops. There’s a lovely sense of place here, but it’s the sheer drinkability that will win you over.
Silky across the palate, it slides down with barely a protest. A soft shimmer of spice on the finish adds just enough intrigue and moreishness.
Clean, crisp and seriously refreshing.
A sizzling summer-day drink.
