From a tough vintage, with the worst frost experienced and production down around 40%, this is a Chardonnay that shows what happens when great winemakers are tested. A slightly cooler than average year has delivered some concentration without sacrificing drive.
Concentrated nectarines lead the charge, wrapped in vanilla slice creaminess, biscuity notes and a little sourdough. Cashews, almonds and nougat add another layer of interest, while soft spices gently weave through the palate.
But it’s the flow and shape that really impress. The wine moves effortlessly across the palate, carrying respectable generosity while maintaining enough drive to keep everything in balance. It stains the palate with flavour, clinging to a moreish finish. Persistent and well handled, this is a great drink.
