Considered, savoury and beautifully focused, this Squitchy Lane Pinot Noir has plenty going on.
Made with 10% whole bunches and matured for 10 months in French oak (30% new), this has plenty of depth without losing its poise.
Dark cherries, baked strawberries and plummy fruit provide the core, with impressive depth and focus building through the mid-palate. There’s a delicious interplay between the generous fruit and a savoury complexity that builds fabulous mometum.
Dried leaves, char and smoked meats emerge across the palate, joined by twigs, black tea and woodsy spices that gradually tense things up towards the close.
The tannins and savoury elements offer plenty of shape, while the fruit keeps everything buoyant.
And then it just hangs. The persistent finish carries those savoury flavours long after the last sip.
A Pinot Noir with depth, intrigue and plenty of savoury personality, yes please.
