Oliver's Taranga Grenache Blanc 2026

A rockstar debut from the first crop, this Oliver's Taranga Grenache Blanc has arrived with a bang.

You could suggest that Grenache Blanc is to the French what Fiano is to the Italians. But then again, perhaps it leans closer to the Vermentino side of the ledger.

From vines that produce tightly packed fruit and big bunches, this is bright, buoyant and joyous. Clean and crisp from the get-go, lemon juice, cut pear and canned pear bring plenty of freshness and fruit appeal. But it’s the texture that delivers what the Vermentino in the range doesn't. Some time on lees and the use of whole bunches have done their work here. A lovely thumbprint of texture lands across the mid-palate as a result, and it sticks around, bringing a little more shape and intrigue. There’s even a pear crunch on the finish. Cruising along with ease, this is a terrific debut and I'd be curious to observe its journey during upcoming vintages. Watch this space.
