If you enjoy Riesling, I reckon you'll enjoy Piquepoul. Less perfumed and with a broader palate, mind you, it could be suggested as the southern France answer to Riesling. Clean, fresh and made for sunshine, this Willunga 100 Piquepoul strides out with a little salty swagger.
Lemons and lemon juice lead the charge, with sea spray and a flicker of saltiness adding a distinctly coastal feel. There’s a lovely fine textural detail running through the palate, giving the wine just enough shape without taking away from its freshness. Light, energetic and seriously refreshing, this is the sort of wine that makes you want to kick off your shoes and head straight for the water. Better still, grab a bag of sea salt chips for the win. Light up your spring and summer gatherings with this. Chill, pour generously and surround yourself with people who laugh out loud.
