Sourced predominantly from elevated, south-facing slopes in the southern Lyndoch Valley, this is a Shiraz with plenty of generosity and serious staying power. New and second-fill French oak were used, with a small proportion of American oak, bringing cedar and woodsy spice, while approximately 10% Cabernet Sauvignon adds another layer of structure.
And then there’s the fruit. Generous plums and blackberries roll into baked strawberries and cherry compote, before dark chocolate, balsamic and Five Spice add richness, density and intrigue.
It slides across the palate like a big ball of delish, filling every crevice of the mouth without losing its shape. Cardamom and cedar linger through the finish, adding a savoury, spicy edge.
This is a wine that will reward patience. Give it a long decant to enjoy now, or tuck it away and let the years do their thing. It will cellar comfortably for a decade+.
