Italian roots, Granite Belt character. This Meteora Vineyard Montepulciano wears both influences proudly, and yet, the owner is Greek! That's a story for another day...
Passata, dried herbs, dark cherries and canned plums provide the varietal signature, with shards of dark chocolate adding a deeper, slightly decadent edge. Flecks of granite minerality ripple through the wine too, ensuring that local footprint is never far from the action.
Bright, varietal acidity cradles the fruit in a hammock, keeping the palate fresh and lifted, while black pepper and barbecue rub spices add a softly savoury warmth.
There’s good focus through the mid-palate, where the fruit gathers nicely and holds its shape. The back palate, however, thins out quicker than expected, leaving the finish a little less substantial than the opening promises.
