Pecorino is slowly gaining momentum in the Hunter Valley, so it's great to see this release slide across the bench from Saddler's Creek.
An early-ripening Italian variety, it hails from the Abruzzo region, just east of Rome. It's worth noting that it has no relationship with the cheese that carries the same name.
A vibrant and crispy delight, white-fleshed stone fruit, green apple and flickers of grapefruit are the highlights. A shimmer of cashew nuttiness sits in the background, happy to let the fruit be the hero. A lemony zip and tang feature large on close, seemingly holding on longer than Wilson Phillips. Throw this at fresh seafood, battered zucchini flowers or soft cheeses and you're set. Good stuff!
