Drawing fruit from both Polish Hill River and Armagh vineyards with impressive effect, this is a Clare Valley Shiraz that is very easy to get comfortable with.
Blackberries and baked blueberries lead the charge with a flicker of old-school mint pattie tucking in underneath, delivering that irresistible dark chocolate and mint combo that lovers of Clare Valley wine will appreciate.
The oak is handled with a deft touch, providing shape and support while allowing the fruit to remain firmly in the spotlight. Exotic spices drift through the palate, adding detail and intrigue to what is already a neat package.
There's an indulgent feel to its carry, yet enough balance and composure to prevent it from becoming heavy. The finish lingers comfortably with spice and dark fruit unwinding at an unhurried pace.
While it drinks well now, I'd recommend decanting to see it at its best. Better still, there's enough here to see it age comfortably through the medium term.
A polished and thoroughly satisfying Shiraz, it's great stuff.
