Big love for this wine. A thrilling take on Fiano, this release from Oliver's Taranga demands your attention.
Now in its third release, this Anfore expression was inspired by winemaker Corrina Wright's passion for the variety following a trip to Italy in 2022. Matured for 12 months in a 300L TAVA terracotta anfore, the result is captivating.
Golden apple, red apple skin, canned pear and lemon juice flow effortlessly from the glass, while drizzles of honey and honey biscuit notes add warmth and charm. Delicate ginger spice, a flicker of popcorn and hints of barley deliver further complexity without ever crowding the stage. The texture is the standout. Svelte, supple and beautifully composed, it seems to waltz around the mouth like a big ball of deliciousness. Ripples of minerality weave through the fruit, providing shape and freshness, while the length is remarkable for a wine that carries itself with such softness. Calm, charismatic and utterly engaging, it oozes sunset vibes but would be equally at home alongside a broad range of dishes. Just brilliant! Go here.
