Paramoor The Ridge Pinot Noir 2025

This Pinot Noir from Macedon Ranges producer Paramoor Wines asks for a little patience, but the reward is well worth it.

From a site planted in 1984 and perched 660 metres above sea level, this is a wine that steadily reveals its hand. Better again on day two and three, a decent decant is highly recommended. Give it some air and watch it unfurl.

Dark cherries, raspberries and plums lead the charge with a cheeky handful of blueberries adding extra charm. Sweet oak spices sit neatly alongside notes of licorice, black tea and subtle licks of cedar, bringing both width and complexity. With 10% whole bunches, wild yeast fermentation and maturation in a mix of neutral and new oak (25% new), there's plenty of detail without any sense of overworking. The palate carries impressive length and breadth, while a vibrant line of acidity injects life and energy, suggesting there's no rush to drink it. Most impressive is the finish. It draws a long bow, cruising effortlessly towards a persistent and thoroughly moreish close. A cracker.
