Seeing ten months in French oak (30% new), dark plums, dark cherries and red currants fill the glass, delivering plenty of dense fruit without ever feeling weighed down. There's a lovely sense of flow here, the wine gliding across the palate with purpose rather than relying on sheer power to impress. Savoury notes of pan juices emerge through the middle, while a fine sprinkle of black pepper provides just enough seasoning to keep things interesting. In all, it feels beautifully judged, with the fruit carrying the conversation but never monopolising it. The tannins are a feature too. Mouthfilling, chewy and gently drying, they slowly draw moisture from the mouth and bring a welcome sense of structure to the finish. This has roast beef written all over it. It's a big thumbs up from me.
