Seventy dozen. That's it. Blink and you'll miss it.
After making their name with the organically and biodynamically farmed wines at Gemtree, Mike and Melissa Brown have turned their attention to this small venture, focusing on just two white varieties: Fiano and Albariño.
This debut release suggests they're onto something. Lemons, delicate white flowers and pear skin burst from the glass, while a subtle honey puff note drifts quietly in the background. The palate is beautifully shaped, with texture feathered throughout, leaving a fine chalky feel that adds interest and poise. A super-fine ginger spice emerges on the close, gently tickling the palate and extending an already impressive finish. There's terrific reach and length here, with flavour and texture working hand in hand rather than competing for attention. Armed and ready for a Friday afternoon after a long week, this is the sort of wine that encourages you to slow down. Thoughtful, composed and quietly confident, it's made for moments of quiet contemplation.
