Cumulus Estate Six Hundred Above Chardonnay 2013

For me Chardonnay is at its best when it's expressive. It is a variety which has so much to offer. Layers of complexity and textural interest sort the best from the rest.

Whilst this Chardonnay has plenty of fruit led by baked peach, it just sits as an easy drinking wine. Some oak is perched in the background with what seems little acid. Easy drinking, yes. Complex and textural, no.

Available on premise, this would match some dishes like gnocchi in a butter sauce but a wine I wouldn't chase after in a hurry.
