It had been I while since the last time I had a look at this sparkling Merlot until I attended the Coonawarra Cup in January earlier this year. A breakfast of eggs Benedict was served at 10am and I happily had a glass of this plus a few other sparkling reds on offer - a more than pleasant start to the day. As a result I was pleased to see this sample come through the door recently.
Roasted capsicum, sautéed mushrooms, tilled earth, charred oak sit alongside plummy fruit and a lick of sweetness to finish. A dab of rosella pokes through after some time in the glass too. Not overly complex, just a good drink for a variety of occasions.
