Clovely Estate Sangiovese Rosé 2016

Quite dark in appearance - darker than the image depicts. It looks more like cranberry juice rather than the salmon and copper colours now more commonly seen on the shelves.

Straight off the bat it doesn't exude the get up and go which we are accustomed to with trendy new age Rosé. It smells of dried strawberries, dried red fruits and overripe watermelon. Quite a fruit driven wine, there's little savoury appeal. Six hours on skins may have been a bridge too far? A fair drink but one which is one dimensional if anything without any real point of difference to hook you in. A simple drink which will please a section of the market.

Drink now.
