The 2015 vintage was just awarded a gold medal at the World Saperavi Championships in the variety's homeland of Georgia. This comes as a pre-release sample, just to get a gauge where things are at. And I must say, things are looking pretty damn good...
Quite a polished style in part, this impresses from the outset. It's a beast in the glass - thick set, super dark appearance but offers endearing aromas of purple flowers, dark plums and whispers of mulberry. Blackberry, dense plum and dark cherry fruit steps up on tasting with oak playing a key role. Dark chocolate brushes by with fine spices dusted across the mouth leaving a fine powder like finish. Moreish with the delish factor sky high. Go here.
