Thomas Wines Braemore Semillon 2015

The leanest Braemore I've seen from Andrew Thomas. Usually these wines sit proudly but this just didn't hit the spot as previous have. It's not the vineyard and it's not the maker. Put it down to the vintage. Wet. Rainy. All that. What a year to follow the sublime 2014 which graced the Hunter.

The burst of citrus goodness which is one of the trademarks of this wine just doesn't come. Lemons and little white flowers are present though more dilute than usual. More green and grassy characters are present however. And dare I mention the ugly "B" word - that sticky little sucker - a result of fruit unable to ripen.

This will bounce back next year. The great winemakers always do and Andrew Thomas certainly comfortably shares that chair in the Hunter Valley.
